Period Zero believes every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their potential before making decisions about college, careers, or entrepreneurship. We exist to prepare youth for a rapidly changing workforce by connecting education, industry, technology, and community through meaningful experiences that develop confidence, capability, and opportunity.
Our mission is to empower young people to discover opportunities, develop workforce-ready skills, demonstrate their capabilities, and build relationships that prepare them for lifelong success. We believe learning extends beyond the classroom and that authentic experiences, mentorship, and professional networks are essential to helping young people thrive in today’s economy.
Everything Connects is the philosophy that guides our work. Career exploration, leadership, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, and workforce readiness should not exist as isolated experiences. When intentionally connected, they create stronger pathways that help young people understand how their interests, talents, and education align with future careers.
Period Zero is building a workforce development ecosystem that grows with each participant. Teen Networking Nights serve as the primary entry point, connecting youth with employers, entrepreneurs, educators, skilled professionals, and community leaders through structured networking and hands-on learning experiences. These connections expand students’ social capital while exposing them to careers and opportunities they may not otherwise encounter.
As participants discover new interests, they engage in progressively deeper learning experiences that strengthen both technical and durable workforce skills. Through leadership development, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, project-based learning, workforce labs, and emerging technology experiences, participants develop communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, cultural agility, professionalism, adaptability, and problem-solving skills that transfer across industries.
Our partnerships with employers and community organizations are central to this work. Industry professionals become mentors, collaborators, and workforce partners who help students understand workplace expectations while creating stronger connections between education and employment. These relationships provide authentic career exploration and help employers invest in developing future talent.
Looking ahead, Period Zero is expanding its Workforce Labs, which immerse participants in high-demand industries through hands-on projects, mentorship, and real-world challenges. These experiences prepare young people for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, employment, military service, and entrepreneurship while strengthening the future workforce.
By intentionally connecting people, experiences, and opportunities, Period Zero is creating pathways where young people gain the confidence, skills, relationships, and experiences needed to succeed in an evolving world of work.
